PAT DOUGHERTY: NEBRASKA REVISTED

Nebraska is considered to be an American classic. Many folk singers revere its storytelling, and even play the some of the songs around campfires. Last Sunday Pat Dougherty played them all.

Springsteen's opus is filled with darkness and spooky textures, but Nebraska is not without wistful child like nostalgia. The characters all have some sort of personal pain, longing, or resentment (probably explains why Dougherty lists this album as a major influence).

His performance was an honest fan's portrayal, a mixture of personal interpretation and by-the-book reverence, but Boss nerds beware liberties were taken.

And for those who are curious/don't know already, Dougherty explains what his trademark message on his guitar means at the beginning of the show.
